Environmental Services
A key role of the Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR) is to promote best environmental management practices by delivering environmental regulatory and policy services, in a manner that maximises the responsible development of the State's mineral and petroleum resources.
The role of the Department of Industry and Resources' Environment Division is to:
- Administer the environmental aspects of State and Commonwealth mineral and petroleum legislation
- Provide environmental assessment, audit and monitoring services for the resources industry
- Provide incident investigation services and initiate the Department's enforcement policy as required
- Liaise with core stakeholders and benchmark the Division's performance against customer expectations
Environmental Policy
The key function of the Environmental Policy Branch is to facilitate responsible development by participating with Commonwealth and State Government agencies in the formulation of environmental and heritage legislation, policies and strategies associated with the industry and resource sector.
