The new edition of the official Australian Marine Complex (AMC) publication The AMC News is now available.
The issue is packed with information about the exciting developments and projects taking place at the AMC. The feature story celebrates the fifth anniversary of the AMC Common User Facility (CUF).
The CUF has become Australia’s powerhouse for the fabrication, assembly and load-out of large infrastructure projects. The CUF has seen some 200 contracts undertaken, 3500 jobs created and $233 million injected into the State economy during its first five years of operation.
Western Australian Premier Alan Carpenter said the AMC was a premier destination for the resources, marine and defence industries.
He said the State Government, through the Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR) and LandCorp, would continue to develop this exciting industrial area.
“New infrastructure, such as the floating dock, and further land releases over the coming years, will provide ample opportunities for the complex to continue to develop into a destination dedicated to industry that is talked about all around the world,” Mr Carpenter said.
Also in this edition, readers can learn about the official opening of defence company ASC’s new $35 million submarine support facility at the AMC. The facility will be used to maintain and upgrade the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines.
Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Procurement Greg Combet said the opening of the new ASC West facility was a major step forward in the delivery of greater submarine capability and availability in Australia.
“This new facility, delivered on time and on budget, demonstrates a path to vastly improved submarine support,” Mr Combet said.
Readers can also learn about the development of an Industry Road Map for the future of Australia’s oil and gas industry, as well as the official opening of the Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training (ACEPT).
Regular features including the CUF update and AMC company profiles are also included in edition seven of The AMC News.
The publication is produced and released quarterly by DoIR and is available by clicking on Featured publications on DoIR’s homepage.
