Importing, exporting and international trade issues will be discussed at the upcoming International Trade Day
Western Australian companies will have the opportunity to learn more about importing, exporting and trade related activities this month at an International Trade Open Day.
The trade day will be filled with trade displays and presentations on international trade issues. It will take place on August 21 in East Perth and is free for the public to attend.
The event is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia (CCIWA) and supported by the Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as well as Austrade.
DoIR’s Director of the WA Global Network Steve Arnott said the trade day is an excellent opportunity to showcase the services available to companies looking to expand their operations overseas.
“The WA Global Network provides free assistance to WA companies seeking to enter the international market, including the identification of potential business partners and clients,” he said.
“With the current strength of the State’s economy and the rapid growth of industry in countries such as India, now is a great time for WA companies to enter these new and exciting overseas markets.”
Industry service providers will present information and advice on:
• Starting up an import or export business
• Finding suppliers or buyers in Australia and overseas
• Market information
• Customs and cargo inspection information
• How to promote your business to the world
• Export assistance programs and grants
Five seminars are also scheduled for the event and titled:
• International trade payments and risk insurance management
• The logistics chain and the role importers and exporters play
• Customs duty concessions and excise, new international premium research and development concession
• Western Australia’s Global Network - connecting the world for better business
• The changing face of export grants
• Intellectual property protection - strategies for companies
The trade display will take place between 9 am and 5 pm at CCIWA in East Perth. Exhibitions from the following organisations will be showcased - CCI International Trade Centre, Department of Industry and Resources, Department of Agriculture and Food, ANZ, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Small Business Development Corporation.
