Technology and Industry Advisory Council
The Technology and Industry Advisory Council (TIAC) was established by legislation in 1983. With the advent of the Industry and Technology Development Act 1998 (WA), TIAC's role was preserved.
TIAC provides advice to the Minister for State Development. It also carries out and collaborates in research, studies or investigations on any matter relating to the legislation.
This involvement includes examining:
- The role of industry, science and technology in Government policies
- The social and economic impact of industrial and technological change
- Employment and training needs and opportunities relating to industrial, scientific and technological activities
- The adequacy, priorities and coordination of scientific, industrial and technological activities
- Methods of stimulating desirable industrial and technological advances in the State
- The application of industrial, scientific and technological advances to Government services
- TIAC is managed by staff seconded from the Department of Industry and Resources.
